LA Chapter Fund

Did you know that each year, we send two young surgeons to attend the ACS Leadership & Advocacy Summit in DC and invite two excellent outside speakers for our annual meeting? We also provide monetary awards for Best Trauma and Best Cancer Papers to our surgical residents. These worthwhile endeavors cost money.

As active chapter members, we know that we need resources to fuel our mission in years to come. Therefore, the Louisiana Chapter leadership would like to establish a Chapter Fund to help accomplish the mission of the Louisiana Chapter. The mission of the Louisiana Chapter of the American College of Surgeons (LA-ACS) is to promote and disseminate knowledge of current surgical principles, advocate for patients and colleagues, provide camaraderie, and support the mission of the American College of Surgeons.

What is a Chapter Fund? A Chapter Fund is a fund set up to accept donations from Fellows and individuals to support the work of the chapter. These donations can be used to support:

1. Scholarships.
2. Educational grants to cover portions of travel and accommodation expenses to attend the ACS Clinical Congress and related national/international events.
3. Research Scholarships and Fellowships.
4. Initiatives that advance the mission of the American College of Surgeons.

The American College of Surgeons Foundation will administer the fund but members of the LA-ACS will make a final determination of how the money is used. There are no hidden fees and your donation is tax deductible. You will receive a receipt and acknowledgment from the Foundation.
