ELIGIBILITY

• All surgical residents, and fellows in a general surgery or surgical specialty residency/fellowship training program in the state of Louisiana.
• Medical students enrolled in a medical school in Louisiana – with an interest in surgery.
• One of the abstract authors must be a Fellow or Associate Fellow member of the Louisiana Chapter American College of Surgeons.
• All entries should represent original work done by the contestant while training in the state of Louisiana.

ABSTRACT SPECIFICATIONS

• Submit via this web-based submission process only.
• You may submit more than one abstract, but only the highest scoring will be accepted.
• Word Limit: (not counting abstract title, author string, or table/figure) must not exceed 250 words for the entire abstract
• Once you select the type of submission, these fields will appear. You DO NOT need to type these headings in your fields.
• Structure
  • If submitting an abstract use the following headings: Background, Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusion.
  • If submitting a case report use the following headings: Introduction/Objective, Case Presentation, Discussion, Conclusion.
• Graphs & Charts Criteria
  • One graph or chart per submission
  • Graph or charts in .jpg format only
  • We will not accept .doc or .PDF file graphs or charts

PRESENTATION TYPES

The LA-ACS Program Committee will decide the presentation format for each accepted abstract.

• Podium presentation: 7-minute presentation (5-minute presentation; 2-minute Q&A)
• Mini Talk presentation: 3-minute presentation (no discussion)
• e-Poster Presentation: 3-minute presentation within the e-Poster Breakfast Session.
• ePoster Display Only: No formal presentation. These will be on display during the meeting in the exhibit area.

All lead authors/presenters must register by Monday, January 26, 2026. We encourage a faculty representative from the lead author’s program must be present at the annual meeting to support the resident, fellow, or medical student.

No abstract or speaker changes after Friday, March 20, 2026. No changes will be accepted by email. You must fill out this abstract change form.

The Louisiana Chapter, American College of Surgeons (LA-ACS) is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization of board certified surgeons who serve as a voice for all surgeons working in the frequently intense and ever-changing field of surgery. The Annual Meeting will provide you with a unique opportunity to reach your target audience which will consist of surgeons, nurses, and hospital administrators. Our exhibit and sponsorship opportunities will allow you to connect with our members in a unique and intimate way, to provide you with the maximum return on your investment. The exhibit space will provide your company’s representatives the ability to interact with attendees throughout the meeting and breaks.
